New Ulm takes 2nd at Marshall Invite

MARSHALL — The New Ulm gymnastics team finished second out of eight teams at the Marshall Invite on Saturday with a score of 134.875.

Willmar won the event with a score of 136.7.

For New Ulm. Kayla Goblirsch finished first all-around (36.475), first on vault (9.5), second on bars (9) and third on floor (9.15). Ella Freiderich also took fourth on floor (9) for New Ulm.

Girls’ basketball

BLHS 82, MLA/C 42

HECTOR — Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart continued to roll on Saturday afternoon with an 82-42 nonconference girls’ basketball victory over Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey.

Sara Kottke led the Mustanges with 23 points, while Maddy Wulkan and Rachel Kottke eached added 16 points. Rachel Kottke also had seven rebounds, while Allison Milbrandt added 14 points and Kristi Kottke had eight assists, seven rebounds and three steals.

Margo Stoesz led MLA/C with 10 points.

The Mustangs are at Martin County West Tuesday night.

Boys’ basketball

Goodhue 65, Madelia 54

MADELIA — Goodhue downed Madelia 65-54 on Saturday in a nonconference boys’ basketball game.

Ja’Sean Glover led the Blackhawks with 31 points and six rebounds, while Kurt Lugo added 9 points and six boards.

Madelia (2-5) hosts Martin County West on Monday night.

NUA goes 1-2 at

Redwood Quad

REDWOOD FALLS — The New Ulm Area wrestling team defeated BOLD 45-31 but fell to MAHACA 41-34 and Redwood Valley 42-36 to finish 1-2 at the Redwood Valley Quad on Friday night.

Cole Ranweiler (170) went 3-0 for the Eagles on Friday with a pair of forfeits and a 48-second fall over Dalton Rose of MAHACA.

Also leading the Eagles was Jackson Bode (138), John Mehlhop (182) and Caleb Arndt (195), who each went 2-1 with a pair of falls apiece. Parker Kamm (106), Julian Hernandez (220) and Colby Wenninger all went 2-1 also for New Ulm.
