Tigers knock off Wabasso

Springfield 21, Wabasso 6

WABASSO — Springfield scored 14 points in the first quarter and held on for a Southwest District, East Subdistrict football win on Saturday.

Decker Scheffler threw for 146 yards and a touchdown for the Tigers. Jordan Kieper had an 11-yard touchdown reception. Mason Rummel had a two-yard rushing touchdown. Kadin Johnson had Springfield’s final touchdown on a two-yard run.

Rummel had 80 yards rushing and Nolan Hovland had six catches for 78 yards. Kieper had three catches for 38 yards.

Nick Marotzke had 139 yards rushing for the Rabbits and a touchdown and Carter Benz threw for 114 yards for Wabasso.

Springfield (2-2) hosts Tracy-Milroy-Balaton on Friday. Wabasso

MVL 12, Southland 0

ADAMS — Minnesota Valley Lutheran defeated Southland in Mid-Southeast District, West Subdistrict football action on Friday.

Matt Munsen had an 80-yard touchdown run for the Chargers in the first quarter and he later hit Jake Kettner on a 66-yard scoring strike as the Chargers earned their first win of the season.

Munsen threw for 160 yards and a touchdown and he also rushed for 124 yards.

Jace Marotz had two interceptions for the Chargers and Kettner had 14 tackles and an interception. Eddie Kolwalke had 10 tackles and two sacks for MVL.

MVL is at United South Central on Friday.

NRHEG 28, GFW 20

WINTHROP — New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva defeated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop in a South Central District, Blue Subdistrict football on Friday.

Jancarlo Munoz had two rushing touchdowns for the Thunderbirds (30 yards and 14 yards) and Ryan Lavrenz had a 2-yard rushing touchdown.

Munoz had 22 carries for 127 yards and two catches for 22 yards. He also had nine tackles to lead the Thunderbirds.

GFW (1-3) is at Le Sueur-Henderson on Friday.

CM/C 34, Edgerton 22

MORGAN — Cedar Mountain/Comfrey defeated Edgerton in a 9-man South District, Central Subdistrict football game on Friday.

Eli Samuelson had 109 yards rushing and a rushing touchdown for the Cougars and he threw for 168 yards and four touchdowns. Justin Lumbar had two receiving touchdowns and 59 yards receiving. Vince Ochs had 80 yards on the ground for the Cougars.

MCC 34, New Ulm Cathedral 20

SLAYTON — Murray County Central defeated New Ulm Cathedral in Southwest District, East Subdistrict football.

Mark Schommer had 15 carries for 61 yards and two touchdowns for the Greyhounds. Elliott Schoo had 18 carries for 58 yards and an 81-yard receiving touchdown. Aaron Portner had seven tackles and Jaden Hotovec had eight tackles.

Cathedral (1-3) hosts Adrian on Friday.
