Prep roundup: New Ulm girls blank Marshall, Springfield tops Fulda

New Ulm 5, Marshall 0

NEW ULM — New Ulm’s Maddy Roufs scored three goals as the Eagles raced to a lopsided Big South Conference girls’ soccer win on Tuesday.

Roufs scored her first goal 7 minutes into the game and Paige Kalis scored at the 22-minute mark to make it 2-0 at halftime.

Roufs scored back-to-back goals within a minute of each other in the second half and Kalis added her second goal of the game at the 32-minute mark in the second half.

Jessica Moellenhoff, Hannah Osbourne and Molly Scheid each had an assist for New Ulm. New Ulm outshot Marshall 30-1 for the game.

New Ulm (4-2) is at Worthington on Thursday.

Prep volleyball

Springfield 3, Fulda 1

SPRINGFIELD–Springfield defeated Fulda 25-27, 25-18, 25-10, 26-24 on Tuesday in a nonconference volleyball game.

Springfield was led by Brittany Rogotzke, who had 13 digs, Eva Mark, who had 38 set assists, two kills and nine digs, and Kora Wahl, who had 16 kills, two set assists and one block.

Springfield (5-5, 0-1) hosts Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

RRC 3, Cedar Mountain 0

MORGAN–Red Rock Central defeated Cedar Mountain 25-20, 25-19, 25-10 on Tuesday in nonconference volleyball game.

Cedar Mountain was led by Emma Schouvieller, who had 15 set assists and four digs, Natalie Lux, who had nine kills and 10 digs and Trisha Smith, who had three blocks, two kills and 20 digs.

Cedar Mountain plays at 7 p.m. on Thursday at New Ulm Cathedral. RRC hosts Adrian at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Madelia 3, JWP 2

MADELIA — Madelia defeated Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton 20-25, 25-18, 25-27, 25-20, 15-11 on Tuesday in a Valley conference volleyball game.

Lillian Mual went 23-for-25 serving with two aces, three kills, nine digs and two assists for Madelia. Faith Bergeman had five kills, three digs, one block and 38 assists and Caleyann Clobes had eight kills, nine digs and one block.

Madelia plays at 7 p.m. on Thursday in Nicollet.

NYA 3, Sibley East 0

ARLINGTON–Norwood Young America defeated Sibley East 25-22, 25-13, 25-10 on Tuesday in a nonconference volleyball game.

Shanise Bates went 12-for12 serving with two aces and eight digs for the Wolverines. Rachel Rettmann had eight kills and four digs, Kasha Bates had six kills and seven digs, and Madi Krentz had 10 set assists, four kills and three digs.

Sibley East (3-6, 0-1) plays at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Le Sueur-Henderson.
