Long Sox sneak past Tigers in 11-inning 2C battle

LAMBERTON — The Lamberton Long Sox picked up a narrow 2-1 walk-off win over the Springfield Tigers in a Region 2C playoff amateur baseball game on Saturday in 11 innings.

Nick Altermatt went 3 for 5 for Lamberton, while Johnny Pistulka added a hit and the only RBI for the Long Sox. Pistulka also got things done on the mound for Lamberton, pitching all 11 innings with nine strikeouts.

He allowed one earned run on eight hits and a walk.

The Tigers were led by Isaac Fink, who was 2 for 4. Ryan Sturm went 2 for 5 with a pair of doubles, while Sam Baier drove in a run on a double. Branden Flock also had a double for the Tigers with a run scored.

Brandon Wilhelmi pitched 10 innings for the Tigers and received the loss, allowing one earned run on nine hits and two walks. He struck out six.

Springfield hosts Hanska at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, while Lamberton travels to Sleepy Eye for a 7:30 p.m. game on Sunday as playoffs resume.
