Prep roundup: Waseca routs New Ulm in girls’ soccer, NU volleyball gets swept

Waseca 7, New Ulm 0

WASECA — Waseca defeated New Ulm 7-0 on Tuesday in a nonconference girls’ soccer game.

New Ulm took 13 shots while Waseca took 17 shots.

Caleigh Heck had 10 saves for New Ulm.

New Ulm hosts St. Peter at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday.

Prep volleyball

Mankato West 3, New Ulm 0

MANKATO — Mankato West defeated New Ulm 25-14, 25-21, 25-15 on Tuesday in a nonconference volleyball game.

New Ulm was led by Sarah Longtin who had 11 digs. Also for New Ulm Nora Windschill had six digs and Olivia Wick had three blocks.

Mankato West hosts Mankato East at 7 p.m. on Thursday. New Ulm hosts Jackson County Central at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

WWG 3, Springfield 0

WESTBROOK — Westbrook-Walnut Grove defeated Springfield 25-22, 25-20, 25-22 on Tuesday in a nonconference volleyball match.

Katelyn Hauth had four kills and seven blocks for Springfield. Brittany Rogotzke added nine digs and Arynzi Rabb had 17 set assists.

Springfield (0-2) will play at Sleepy Eye on Thursday.

Madelia 3, USC 0

WELLS — Madelia defeated United South Central 25-11, 25-18, 25-16 on Tuesday in a nonconference volleyball match.

Lizzie Cooling had 26 set assists and six digs for Madelia. Maddie Mueller added nine kills. Briana Ardolf had nine digs and Meghan Haynes added eight digs.

Madelia (1-2) will travel to Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton on Thursday.

NYA 3, GFW 0

WINTHROP — Norwood Young America defeated Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop 25-23, 25-14, 25-21 on Tuesday in a nonconference volleyball match.

Jordan Rettig had 17 set assists, nine digs and three kills for GFW. Megan Palmer added five kills with 11 digs and Miah Busse had 11 digs.

GFW and Wabasso will participate in the Montevideo tournament on Saturday.
