Supporting Nicollet County Commissioner Luepke

To the editor: Commissioner John Luepke always got my vote. Until this year. Competitive radio ads about the Board voting for levy increases and pay raises got me thinking about the employees of Nicollet County. The latter carry out the duties imposed upon them by our State and Federal agencies. They are our public servants, roughly 280 employees working in approximately 17 specialized areas, from Auditor-Treasurer to Corrections to Public Health and Social Workers to Veterans Services. To the editor: It is an interesting thought that next week we observe both Election Day and Veterans Day. While veterans did not give you your rights and freedoms, they made sure that they were not taken away. All your rights and freedoms are not given to you, you have them because you were born. Thus they cannot be taken away without force. The military and law enforcement are there to see that they are not. Voting is one of the privileges that comes with freedom. School board choices

To the editor: Using your right to vote is responsible. Educating yourself on the candidates, before voting, and using that information, is courageous. Having seven candidates to choose from for three seats on the ISD 88 School Board is an exciting opportunity for voters on November 8, 2022. Our local school board has had to deal with a lot of interesting things the past couple of years, no doubt. To the editor: This election is very important for our nation. The Republican party has promised to cut Social Security and Medicare. Instead I was confronted by live pictures of an angry mob attacking my nation’s capitol along with shouts to “Hang Mike Pence” the Vice President of the United States. To the editor: Kurt Zins would be a great county commissioner representing District #5. I’ve know Kurt for more than 45 years and know him to be reliable, conscientious, and dedicated to his values. He’s always been a conservationist of land and wildlife. Kurt even worked for our company for a time and excelled at being a team player interacting with our employees immediately. The job required him to travel a multi-state area learning different markets, products and different customer bases that helped him be successful.
