To the editor: Recently Sen. Dick Durbin rallied his party to allow illegals to serve our country honorably in exchange for US Citizenship, an attempt to drive up military recruiting. To the editor: I attended the Dec. 13 town hall meeting at the New UIm Library with Senator Dahms and Representative Torkelson. I was curious to hear the issues people have concerns about. I missed a chance to bring up an issue of interest concerning people with disabilities, but it’s not a state issue. It’s an issue that is already known by the U.S. Senate and the House. To the editor: The Declaration of Independence states we all have unalienable rights, and among these are life and liberty. Governments must preserve all of these rights to preserve life we must not cause murder. We have no right to take another’s life; even the life of the old and feeble; even the life of an unborn child. This right to life is not negotiable This right is absolute and natural. To the editor: I am writing in reference to the syndicated columnist, Froma Harrop, who wrote an article entitled, “Republicans can’t do anything about the abortion issue”, printed in the New Ulm Journal on Nov. 15. On Nov. 22, Katie Dauer from Springfield wrote a rebuttal to that letter. I know it’s been several weeks since these letters were printed, but it needs to be addressed. To the editor: We the American people have to wake up. We can’t have Biden have another four-year term. I can’t believe how things have deteriorated in the last two years and 11 months. Biden says he needs another four years to complete what he is going to do in the first four years. He doesn’t need another four years. He already accomplished it in two years and 11 months. Free money?

To the editor: The Saturday/Sunday Nov. 25-26 issue of The Journal featured a front page article about $14 million approved by the City Council for capital improvements at their recent meeting. I’m not writing to debate the merits of the projects. Capital expenditures are always necessary whether in business or government. How those projects are funded varies. The author of the article does a good job of explaining the location and costs of the projects. I do however, take exception to the last sentence of the second paragraph.
