Vote to keep our environment safe

Dear editor: I recently read an article that spoke about Mr. Trump’s willingness to open various Federal lands to oil drilling. He also is said to be in support of drastically lessening automobile emission controls. For me, these topics should not be a political arguing point. Follow the advice of botanists, ecologists, etc. Everyone who is a parent/grandparent should consider a healthy planet to be the best legacy to leave those next generations. I want that for my four children and 10 grandchildren; and, I encourage them to hold the same values for future generations. It ...

Beware of consequences when voting

To the editor: As we go  to vote Nov 5, beware of the consequences of what you are voting for — a choice of higher taxes, less freedom, more spending of our tax dollar, more of giving away our resources to those who don’t work from those who do. Or keeping tax cuts in place, freedom to live free, freedom to help our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to live in a strong America. A concept of a plan

To the Editor: Someone commented to me that I don’t have an endgame or goal with all of my letter-writing. That couldn’t be more wrong. I think I’ve been quite transparent. Taking America backward

To the Editor: When I read things coming out of right-wing ideology, I am constantly awash with a bevy of perplexing questions. As for abortion and women’s rights, how much longer do the right and evangelical Christians intend to punish women for Eve’s original sin? We’re all aware of what the right thinks about contraception as a woman’s responsibility, but maybe those fair-minded thinkers can tell me where they stand on male contraception...condoms? Vasectomies? How about abstinence? I’m thinking the latter is not an option since Viagra has popped up in the male toolbox ...

Stay safe this harvest season

To the Editor: National Farm Safety and Health Week is Sept 15-21 (and the other 51 weeks of the year). Tragically, in the first few weeks of harvest, Minnesota has already lost three farmers in farm related accidents. Roadway crashes are a leading cause of injuries and death in agriculture. For drivers on the road, please watch for slow moving vehicles and follow passing laws, just as you would any other vehicle you pass. Tractors and equipment need to be moved from field to field and farmers do their best to use the safest routes to do so, but they still need to share the road. ...
