It’s all progress

The Journal is publishing its Progress Edition in today’s paper. It is a mammoth undertaking for a small staff to try to chronicle some of the advances and changes that have been taking place in New Ulm in the past year.

For those who think that nothing much happens around here, we are happy to report that there is more than we could cover in this year’s edition. We try to cover the main stories, but there are certainly many more than we could get to.

We are always amazed when we sit down and start looking at the list of advances and changes that take place in New Ulm in a year. This year is no different. The city of New Ulm has completed its second round of park and recreation improvement projects with the completion of the new Recreation Center, complete with a gymnastics facility and a new aquatic center.

District 88 is making news with its new CTE Center, where career training in the building and skilled trades offers students a chance to explore rewarding careers in the trades.

Business changes are changing the face of New Ulm once again. The new Kwik Trip on the north end of town is a great new facility. Downtown, Eric Bode is converting another former problem building into something new and different, a wedding and event center, with a rooftop restaurant and condominiums above.

Our annual Progress Edition proves once again that New Ulm is full of creativity and ambition, and that bodes well for the city’s future.

Starting at $4.50/week.
