Eva Klassen

Eva Klassen, age 89, of New Ulm, died peacefully in her home in New Ulm with her family by her side on Saturday, June 18, 2022.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 27, 2022, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes-South Chapel in New Ulm. Pastor Phil Shenk will officiate, and burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. on Monday, June 27, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes-South Chapel in New Ulm.

Eva is survived by her daughter, Larissa (Don) Hummer of Sartell; her sons, Wayne (Marney Butz) Klassen of New Ulm, Victor (Melanie) Klassen of New Ulm; eight grandchildren, Justin (Sarah) Meidl of Rice, Stephanie (Jason) Leonardy of Sartell, Jennifer (Chris) Gareis of Chaska, Ashley (Elijah) Behnke of Oconto, Wisconsin, Joshua (Niki) Klassen of New Ulm, Zachary (Julie) Klassen of St. Paul, Katelyn (Sonny) Komaniecki of Ithaca, New York, Ryan (Eryn) Hummer of Madison, Wisconsin; 14 great-grandchildren; her sister, Edith (Harold) Bauer of Windom; brothers, Alfred (Maxine) Mueller of Akeley, Erwin Mueller of Paso Robles, California; sisters-in-law, Sandra Mueller of Placerville, California, Natasha Oussenko of Chicago, Illinois, Olga (John) Hasemann of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Victor Klassen Sr. in 2005; great-grandson, Matthew Leonardy; sisters, Lydia, Ursula, Elfriede, Waltraut; and brothers, Herbert and Sigfried Mueller.

Eva Mueller was born March 23, 1933, in Marienburg, Germany, to Johann and Katharina (Lemke) Mueller. She immigrated to the United States in 1951, settling with her family in Mountain Lake. Eva was united in marriage to Victor Klassen on June 27, 1954, in Mountain Lake. The couple was blessed with two sons and a daughter whom together they raised in New Ulm. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved feeding and watching the birds in her back yard and spending time in her flower garden. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Blessed be her memory.
