SPRINGFIELD 10, STARK 6
STARK — Adiel Trevino’s grand slam in the top of the ninth helped lift the Springfield Tigers to a 10-6 win over the Stark Longhorns on Sunday in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game.
Trevino’s grand slam was set up by a bases-loaded walk taken by Aiden Moriarty to tie the game at 6-all. Trevino then his his grand slam to center field for a four-run Tigers lead.
Trevino finished the day 2 for 3 at the plate, while Decker Scheffler was 3 for 5 with a double and an RBI and Madden Lendt was 2 for 4 with a double. Also for the Tigers, Jordan Milbrath was 2 for 5 with a double, while Moriarty was 1 for 2 with a homer and three RBIs and Jake Poehler was 1 for 5 with a homer and two RBIs. Brandon Wilhelmi got the mound win in five innings of relief, allowing two hits, one walk and no runs while striking out four.
The Longhorns were led by Nick Labat, who was 3 for 5 with a homer, a double and an RBI, while Merrick Mathiowetz and Kessler Severson each went 2 for 4, with one of Mathiowetz’s hits being a double. Brandon Helget was also 2 for 5 with a double and two RBIs for Stark, while Arian Saenz was 2 for 5 with two RBIs. Dylan Klein took the loss for Stark in two innings of relief, allowing four hits and three walks for five earned runs while striking out one.
The Tigers moved to 5-2 in the TEL with the win, while the Longhorns dropped to 3-3 in league play.
COURTLAND 16, SLEEPY EYE 13
SLEEPY EYE — Jaden Drill collected five hits Sunday to lead the Courtland Cubs past the Sleepy Eye Indians 16-13 in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game.
The slugger finished 5 for 6 with a homer, two doubles, four RBIs and four runs scored, while Nolan Drill was 2 for 4 with a homer, two walks, four RBIs and four runs scored. Cade Bushard also was 2 for 2 with three walks for the Cubs, while Teddy Giefer was 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs and Teagan Kamm was 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI. Nolan Drill got the win in relief, going 3 2/3 innings and allowing six hits and three walks for six runs, five earned, while striking out seven.
Owen Weiss was 4 for 5 with an RBI to lead the Indians at the plate, while Tyler Mathiowetz was 3 for 4 with an RBI and Cody Schultz was 2 for 5 with an RBI. Nick Mielke took the loss for Sleepy Eye in 1 2/3 innings, allowing seven hits and three walks for nine earned runs while striking out one.
The Cubs racked up 18 hits in the game, while the Indians collected 14 hits.
Courtland moved to 4-2 in the TEL with the win, while Sleepy Eye fell to 1-5.
NEW ULM 7, LEAVENWORTH 2
LEAVENWORTH — The New Ulm Brewers got eight solid innings from pitcher Sam Keckeisen to defeat the Leavenworth Orioles 7-2 on Sunday in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game.
Keckeisen allowed five hits and three walks for two earned runs while striking out seven. Jimmy Allis pitched the ninth and allowed just one walk while fanning two. Jace Schaefer was 3 for 3 with a double at the plate to lead New Ulm, while Colten Schaefer was 3 for 5 with an RBI and Keckeisen was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Ayden Jensen also was 2 for 5 with a double for the Brewers, while Ethan Thompson added a two-run homer.
Jackson Huiras was 2 for 4 to lead the Orioles at the plate, while Jevan Richert and Jaden Mickelson each had an RBI. Richert took the loss in five innings, allowing 10 hits and no walks for five runs, four earned, while striking out four.
New Ulm moved to 5-1 in TEL play with the win, while Leavenworth dropped to 2-3 in league play.
HANSKA 12, GIBBON 3
GIBBON — The Hanska Lakers moved to 8-0 in Tomahawk East League play on Sunday with a 12-3 win over the Gibbon Reds.
Jake Finstad was 3 for 3 with a homer and three RBIs to lead the Lakers at the plate. Finstad’s homer was just one of three for the Lakers in the game as Sam Knowles and Brock Wellmann also went yard. Knowles was 2 for 5 with a two-run homer, while Wellmann was 1 for 2 with a two-run homer. Colin Anderson got the mound win in six innings, allowing three hits and two walks for one earned run while striking out five.
The Lakers weren’t the only team with three home runs, however, as the Reds got solo homers from Kaden Rieke, Josh Wasmund and Dominic Rose. Jason Berger was 2 for 3 with a double also for the Reds, while Rieke was 2 for 4 with his solo homer. Devon Schwarzrock took the loss in three innings, allowing seven hits and seven walks for seven earned runs while fanning one.
Gibbon dropped to 3-3 in the TEL with the loss.
ESSIG 10, SEARLES 9
ESSIG — The Essig Bluejays earned a 10-9 walkoff win over the Searles Grizzlies on Sunday in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game.
The game ended on an error that scored Winsten Nienhaus and Hunter Lewandowski.
Lewandowski led the Bluejays in the win, going 3 for 5, while Jay Helget was 2 for 4. Joey Schugel was 2 for 5 with an RBI also for Essig, while Josh Forstner was 2 for 6 with two RBIs and Erich Prokosch was 2 for 6 with an RBI. Caleb Forstner got the win for Essig in three innings of relief, allowing four hits and no walks for two runs while striking out four.
Kasey Kuck led the Searles bats, going 3 for 5, while Isaiah Rieser was 2 for 5 and Landon Barstad was 1 for 3 with a homer and three RBIs. Collin Forstner and Tony Geiger also each went 1 for 4 with two RBIs apiece for Searles. Kolton Achman was charged with the loss in 2 2/3 innings of relief, allowing seven hits and two walks for seven runs, six earned, while striking out two.
Essig moved to 2-6 in TEL play with the win, while Searles fell to 3-3 in the TEL.
FRIDAY GAMES
SPRINGFIELD 12, FAIRFAX 2 (7 INNINGS)
FAIRFAX — The Springfield Tigers rolled the Fairfax Cardinals 12-2 on Friday night in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game.
The game ended in seven innings due to the 10-run lead rule.
Decker Scheffler was 2 for 2 with an RBI to lead the Tigers at the plate, while Russell Beers was 2 for 3 with an RBI and three runs scored, Jacob Poehler was 2 for 3, Tyler Hach was 2 for 4 with a double and five RBIs and Noah Neperman was 2 for 4 with a triple. Tyler Dick got the win in four innings of work, allowing five hits and two walks for two earned runs while striking out seven.
Elway Berg led Fairfax at the plate, going 2 for 4 with an RBI. Tyler Fish took the mound loss in five innings, surrendering 12 hits and four walks for 12 runs, 10 earned, while striking out one.
SEARLES 8, LAMBERTON 7
LAMBERTON — The Searles Grizzlies topped the Lamberton Long Sox 8-7 on Friday night a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game.
Ben Dumonceaux was 2 for 4 with two doibles and two RBIs to lead Searles at the plate, while Kasey Kuck was 2 for 4 with an RBI and Tony Geiger was 2 for 5 with a double and two RBIs. Ethan Mixdorf got the win on the mound in five innings, allowing five hits and two walks for four unearned runs while striking out five.
Lamberton was led by Jackson Jenniges, who was 3 for 5 with an RBI, while Neil Eichten was 3 for 6 with a double and two RBIs. Ashton Squires took the pitching loss in four innings, allowing three hits and six walks for five runs, three earned, while striking out five.
HANSKA 10, ST. JAMES 2
ST. JAMES — The Hanska Lakers downed the St. James A’s on Friday night in a Tomahawk East League amateur baseball game.
Hanska had five players with two hits apiece. Evan Blekestad was 2 for 3, while Brady Mosenden was 2 for 5 with a homer and three RBIs, Colin Anderson was 2 for 5 with an RBI, Brock Wellmann was 2 for 5 and Sam Knowles was 2 for 5. Derek Wilfahrt was 1 for 3 with a double, two RBIs and three walks. Aaron Portner got the win for Hanska in eight innings, allowing three hits and a walk for two runs while fanning five.
Max Westman was 3 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI to lead St. James, while Sawyer Carr was 1 for 4 with a solo homer. Joe Hager took the loss for the A’s. The lefty went 6 2/3 innings and allowed seven runs, four earned, on 10 hits and five walks while striking out two.
