Gregory W. Bieraugel
Gregory W. Bieraugel, age 76, of Lafayette, died Friday, April 22, 2022, of congestive heart failure at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm. Burial will be in St. Gregory the Great Catholic Cemetery in Lafayette, with military honors being conducted by the Lafayette American Legion Honor Guard.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Friday, April 29, 2022, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes — NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. The visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service Saturday at church.

Greg is survived by his wife, Joleen; daughter, Andrea (Shawn) Anderson of Savage; son, Forrest (Jenny Kokesch) of New Ulm; grandchildren, Brendan Bieraugel, Megan Anderson, and Carter Anderson; special grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Courtney (Josh) Botten, Kayla Kokesch, Jordan Kokesch, Rayleigh Botten, and Ryland Botten; and his siblings, Delores Kokesch, Eileen (Bob) Hansen, and Gene (Marjorie) Bieraugel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Jackson Bieraugel; sister, Nancy (Clarence) Hacker; brothers-in-law, John Kokesch and Robert Hamann.
Gregory William Bieraugel was born on May 23, 1945, in New Ulm to Edwin & Marcella (Lindquist) Bieraugel. He graduated from New Ulm High School in 1963. Greg enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served his country stateside from 1963-1966. He served playing in the Marine Band in Quantico, Virginia. On Dec. 27, 1969, Greg was united in marriage to Joleen Hamann at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Lafayette. He then was a dairy farmer in Lafayette Township from 1967 until 2008. After Greg retired from dairy farming, he worked at PGI Mailers for 14 years and at Stan’s Painting. He was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, served on the parish council, taught CCD, and was a choir member. Greg also was a member of the Lafayette Band for 67 years, and also served as president for many years. In addition, he was an active member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, Lafayette American Legion Post 300, and served on the Lafayette Township and Lafayette Shipping Association boards. Greg enjoyed fishing, bowling, golfing, and spending time with his grandchildren playing cards, watching hockey and baseball, going to concerts, fishing, and golfing. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.
