HANSKA — Edwin “Ed” Sturm, age 68, of Hanska passed away peacefully on Friday, May 29, 2020 at Hillcrest Healthcare Center in Mankato.

A Public Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at the New Ulm City Cemetery – Soldiers Rest Section.

Edwin is survived by his wife, Jean Sturm; daughters, Melissa (Blake) Ellanson, Rachel (Jon Beck) Sturm; step daughter, Kim (Terry Wendinger) Schwab; step sons, Scott (Amber Rademaker) Schwab, Willy (Holly) Schwab; grandchildren, Kjerstin, Brandon, Riley, Bryce, Landon, Austin, Owen, Sullivan, Kenlee, Kya; great-grandchildren, Autumn and a baby girl due in October; sisters, Gwen (John) Melchert, Bonnie (Gary) Marquardt; brothers, Donald (Anita) Sturm; sisters-in-law, Judi Larson, Margi (Jim) Rewitzer; brothers-in-law, Ron Guggisberg, Larry (Kris) Guggisberg, Daniel (Barb) Guggisberg, Steve (Angela) Weise, Tim (Karen) Weise; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Fritz & Mary Guggisberg, Donald Weise; sisters, Betty Minnick, Karen Koehler; siblings-in-law, Joyce Guggisberg, Donald Guggisberg, Patricia Guggisberg, Mary Weirauch; and nephew, Lonny Minnick.

Edwin “Ed” John Sturm was born July 4, 1951 to George and Delores (Windhorn) Sturm. He attended high school and enlisted in the United States Army. Ed proudly served his country from 1968 to 1971. He then began a 30-year career at New Ulm Manufacturing, which eventually became Caterpillar. Ed then worked at Aschenbrenner Trucking until he retired. Ed was united in marriage to Jean Guggisberg on January 13, 1994 in New Ulm.

Ed was an avid racoon hunter. He would travel all around the United States to attend circuits with his competition dogs. He also enjoyed going motorcycling and working outside. Ed especially loved his morning coffee clubs with all his friends, as well as going out driving just to look around. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Blessed be his memory.
