David Leon Koskela, 43, of Sacred Heart died Sunday, May 26, 2019, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident south of Hector.

His funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 3 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop. Burial will be in Winthrop Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home, Willmar. www.hafh.org

David Koskela was born along with his twin brother, Duane, on June 19, 1975 in Waconia, the son of Gary and Jane (Anderson) Koskela. He was baptized at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Victoria. He lived in Victoria and later grew up in Norwood-Young America where he was an active FFA member, played football and graduated with The Class of 1994.

He worked at Rich Craft in Winthrop for many years. He lived in Norwood Young America until 1999 when he purchased a farm across from his parents in Sacred Heart. After his father passed away, he moved back with his mom and twin brother Duane in order to help out. He also did maintenance work for Willmar Holiday Inn, Specialty Manufacturing in Granite Falls and was currently working for Chippewa County Medical Center in Montevideo.

David enjoyed drawing, reading comic books, and anything science fiction. He had a collection of Hot Wheels from popular movies and TV shows. He loved animals and helping on the farm. He enjoyed visiting with friends and family. He had a smile and personality that could light up a room. His sarcastic sense of humor could make anyone laugh. His nieces and nephews where very important to him. They were always playing, rough housing and having a good time.

Surviving is his mother, Jane; siblings: Jona (Tim) Keating, Kelly Koskela and daughter, Chelsey of Hutchinson, Daniel (Sarah) Koskela and sons: Dustin, Adam and Thomas of Winthrop, twin brother, Duane Koskela of Sacred Heart and Kathleen (Mark) Cornell and children: Samantha and son Carson, Michael and Brandon of Glencoe. Also surviving are his aunts, uncles, cousins and other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Gary in 2012, and brother, Gary Jr.
