Willard F. Bode

NEW ULM — Willard F. Bode, age 90, of New Ulm died Friday, June 29, 2018 at the New Ulm Medical Center.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 am on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Ulm with Pastor Timothy Smith officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home SOUTH CHAPEL in New Ulm and will continue from 9:30-10:30 am Tuesday at the church.

Willard is survived by his sons; Doug (Diane) Bode of New Ulm, Jim Bode of New Ulm, Steve Bode of New Ulm, Bob (Patti) Bode of New Ulm, Mike (Lois) Bode of New Ulm; grandchildren, Josh Bode, Kristy Forst, Heather Schneider, Adam Bode, Eric Bode, Chelsey Bode, Meghan Metzker and Aron Bode; great grandchildren, Kyan, Laken, Jaxton, Quinn, Wyatt and Hudson; brothers, Gerald (Carol) Bode of New Ulm, Glen (Bonnie) Bode of Courtland.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Irma “Tootie” Bode; sister, Myerl Nelson; and his brothers; Les, Gene, Frank, and Marcus Bode.

Willard Fred Bode was born on May 10, 1928, to Arthur and Beatrice Bode. He was a graduate of Nicollet High School. On August 30, 1950, Willard was united in marriage to Irma “Tootie” Schmidt, at Cambria Presbyterian Church, in Cambria. Together they raised five sons. He owned and operated New Ulm Feed Service and Brown County Feed Service in Essig. Willard was an avid Twins Fan and also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Vikings and Timberwolves. Willard most loved spending time with his family.
