Lillian E. Riebel

SLEEPY EYE — Lillian E. Riebel, age 90, of Sleepy Eye, MN, died on January 7, 2018, at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.

Service will be held at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Sleepy Eye, on Friday, January 12, 2018 at 11:00 am.

Visitation will be on Friday from 9:30 to 11 am at the church.

The clergy will be Msgr. John Richter.

Interment will be at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Sleepy Eye.

Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.

Lillian Emma Riebel was born on November 5, 1927, in Sleepy Eye, MN, the daughter of Lawrence & Anna (Saffert) Weiss. Lillian attended country school until 8th grade. Lillian married Frank Wensauer on May 8, 1946. She worked at Pietrus, Sleepy Eye Medical Center and Krienke Turkey farm where she retired. Lillian married Walter Riebel on August 29, 1980. Lillian was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the CCW. She enjoyed embroidery, gardening, fishing, playing cards, listening to old time music and dancing. She also enjoyed canning, creating special recipes like sauerkraut and dumplings and was always a happy person! She always loved spending time with her brothers and sisters.

Lillian is survived by her children, Diana (Robert “Chisey”) Sellner of Sleepy Eye, Marjorie (Daryle) Fischer of New Ulm, Charlene (David) Forsyth of St. James, Michael Wensauer of Sleepy Eye, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, sisters, Mary Doyle of Sleepy Eye, Margaret McSherry of Florida, Florence Current of Florida, sister-in-law, Karen Weiss of Sleepy Eye and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Frank Wensauer and Walter Riebel, brothers, Linus, Victor and Sylvester Weiss and sister, Viola Krueger.
