Anthony Jones Jr., 20, 121 Monument Drive, Morton, was charged Thursday with two counts of gross misdemeanor third-degree DWI, misdemeanor driving after revocation and open bottle. According to a Statement of Probable Cause, New Ulm Police were on patrol at 8:54 pm., May 10, when they noticed a vehicle exit the McDonald’s parking lot at 1705 S. Broadway without stopping for a stop sign, then a vehicle braked to avoid a crash. Police stopped the vehicle in the Qwik Trip parking lot and identified the driver as Jones. He said he didn’t have a driver’s license and police detected a strong alcoholic beverage odor coming from the vehicle, Jones’ eyes were bloodshot and watery with visible nystagmus. He mumbled when he spoke and failed certain field sobriety tests. He refused a Preliminary Breath Test and asked to be aken to jail. Police noticed an open beer can in the vehicle and open bottles of Jack Daniels and Captain Morgan. Jones was arrested. He provided a breath sample for analysis at 9:27 p.m. that showed an alcohol concentration of .15 grams pre 210 liters of breath. A check of his driver’s license status showed it was revoked and he had a qualified prior impaired driving incident, revocation, on April 24, 2016.
