Former NU public school teacher indicted for child porn

MINNEAPOLIS — A teacher with over 20 years of employment at New Ulm Public School was indicted for allegedly using using a messaging app to distribute and receive child pornography. According to court documents, between Oct. 14, 2023 and Jan. 29, 2024, Daniel John Janke, 54, used Kik, a messaging and chat application, to send and receive images and videos containing child sexual abuse material. New Ulm Police • Received a call from a 35-year-old New Ulm woman at 5:15 p.m. Thursday about an intoxicated 39-year-old New Ulm man. Police went to a Minnesota Street South residence and transported the man to detox. A report was done for documentation. • Stopped a vehicle on North Broadway at 7:25 p.m. Thursday and arrested a 27-year-old male for DWI and transported him to the Brown County Jail. A report went to the New Ulm City Attorney’s Office.

Officers noticed impairment signs from the driver, a 59-year-old Buffalo Lake man. He was arrested for DWI and transported to the Brown County Jail, then detox.
