New Ulm Police
• Responded to a fight outside the B & L Bar on the first block of Minnesota St. North at 10:59 p.m. Saturday. Officers rendered first aid to a 43-year-old Fairfax man before an ambulance was dispatched to tend to the man. Police were provided cell phone video of the fight in which a 31-year-old New Ulm man punched the Fairfax man. The New Ulm man was located, arrested and transported to the Brown County Jail. It was not known if the Fairfax man went to the New Ulm Medical Center. A report went to the Brown County Attorney’s Office for consideration of disorderly conduct and 3rd-degree assault charges.
• Took an assault report at 3:58 p.m. Sunday on the 700 block Front St. South. A 23-year-old New Ulm man was hit in the left jaw by a 39-year-old New Ulm man at a residence. The victim did not seek medical attention. A report went to the city attorney’s office for consideration of 5th-degree assault charges.
• Performed a welfare check at Kwik Trip North at 1623 N. Broadway at 9:52 a.m. Monday. Officers talked to a 25-year-old Hutchinson woman in a vehicle. She was arrested on a Meeker County warrant for drug possession and a probation violation and transported to the Brown County Jail. A report went to the Minnesota Department of Corrections.
• Took a theft report at 12:32 p.m. Monday at Oak Hills Living Center, 1314 8th St. N. A 77-year-old facility resident said 15 quarters were stolen from a cup on a dresser drawer. The woman was advised to secure her money if she feels it was stolen. A report was done for documentation.
• Took a theft report Monday from Wal-Mart involving a 36-year-old New Ulm woman. Since May of 2024, she has been part of 29 skip scanning thefts totaling $508.59. A report went to the city attorney’s office for theft charge consideration.
• Stopped a vehicle at 5:39 p.m. Tuesday at German and 3rd Street South for a moving violation. A 41-year-old New Ulm woman was arrested and taken to jail on a Scott County warrant for an unpaid traffic ticket.
• Received a theft report of a dolly valued at $20 from a backyard on the 700 block, Valley Street South at 4:17 p.m. Tuesday.
• Performed a welfare check at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday at Broadway and 14th Street North for an autistic, non-verbal four-year-old girl walking in traffic. The girl was not hurt and picked up by a family member. A report went to Brown County Human Services.
• Received a theft report at 6:17 p.m. Tuesday at Walmart. A 39-year-old Dallas, Tx. woman was cited for misdemeanor theft for using a Springfield man’s debit card to purchase $41.55 worth of merchandise. The debit card was seized. A report was done for documentation.
Minnesota State Patrol
• Responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 14 Courtland Township, Nicollet County at 4:54 p.m. Tuesday. A 2022 Honda Pilot driven by Amy Sue Demarest, 60, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and a 2013 Ford F-150 driven by Jeffrey Aaron Anderson, 50, New Ulm, were both eastbound on Highway 14 when they collided. Demarest was transported to New Ulm Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Both drivers wore seat belts. Alcohol was not involved. Allina Ambulance assisted.
• Responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 71 and Redwood CR 2, Morton, Paxton Township, Redwood County at 10:37 a.m. Sunday. Brianna Elizabeth Degonda, 19, Redwood Falls, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu westbound on Highway 71 when she collided with a 1998 Chevrolet Monte Carlo driven westbound by Marchell Louise Haines, 64, Fairfax. Degonda, Haines and a passenger in the Chevrolet, James Lee Cuff, 71, Fairfax, were transported to Centra Care Redwood Falls with non-life threatening injuries. All three people wore seat belts. Alcohol was not involved.The Redwood County Sheriff’s Office assisted.
