Warren Backer launches guitar teaching studio in New Ulm

NEW ULM — Warren Backer announced that he will begin teaching guitar in New Ulm, beginning June 2, 2018. Backer, a native of New Ulm and graduate of (Dr.) Martin Luther College, taught guitar locally during his college days in the late 70’s. Since then, Backer has continued to develop his talent, studying with Minneapolis jazz guitarist Paul Renz and at Berklee School of Music, Boston, Mass., as well as performing in the Minneapolis area and teaching guitar in Burnsville, MN.

“I am really excited to teach guitar in New Ulm again. I’ve always had a fondness for New Ulm and the surrounding area, having grown up and gone to school here,” he said. “I hope to fill an unmet need by providing the quality of guitar instruction to area students that one would find in a much larger city.”

Backer is partnering with The Grand Center for Arts and Culture to open a New Ulm location of his Backer Guitar Studios business at The Grand Center. Backer intends to start small, growing with demand. He will be commuting to New Ulm to teach guitar on alternating Saturdays, beginning June 2. He will be teaching at the Grand Center for Arts and Culture on Minnesota Street.
