U of M students thank Windings
NEW ULM – University of Minnesota students from the college of Science and Engineering visited Windings employees, to showcase their Solar Vehicle Project and express their gratitude for the support received from Windings.
Windings was a key sponsor and partner on the project and helped the students with engineering and manufacturing for the rotor and stator. In addition, Windings helped with the machined parts which made up the whole motor. The vehicle pictured is the 12th completed solar vehicle and it is named “Eos.”
Eos has raced over 3,000 kilometers in the World Solar Challenge in 2015, placing 5th in its class, and 1,975 miles along the American Solar Challenge, placing 10th overall against a field of Challenger Class vehicles. The Solar Vehicle Project is a student administered, designed, and built project that teaches members about engineering and management in a complete product development environment.
The students have already begun the design of their 13th vehicle and Windings will once again provide support and expertise.
Windings is active in sponsoring and supporting many disciplines of undergraduate engineering students by offering internships and is looking to expand the internship and co-op program in 2017.
