Historic Kiesling House hosts wool spinning demonstration

NEW ULM – The Brown County Historical Society invites the public to experience “From Sheep to Clothing” at the Historic Kiesling House in downtown New Ulm.

Heritage spinner Jo Ann Huss will demonstrate the age-old craft of spinning wool. Visitors will learn about the wool industry and see firsthand how raw wool is transformed into yarn. The demonstration includes a display of wool, carders, a spinning wheel, and handcrafted wool items. Drop in anytime between noon and 3 p.m.

This event complements the Kiesling House’s regular programming, which features historical exhibits and a video presentation. Built in 1861, the Kiesling House survived the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862, natural disasters, and the passage of time. Step inside and discover the stories these historic walls hold.

Also on June 28, the 1914 Popcorn Wagon will be stationed in front of the Brown County Museum Annex at 12 North Broadway from 10 a.m. to 5p.m. Proceeds benefit one of BCHS’s largest fundraisers.

Starting at $4.50/week.
