Lions Present Helen Keller Sight Awards

Submitted photo The New Ulm Lions Club presented Helen Keller Sight Awards to Dr. Rebecca Huisken and Lion Brad Kirk at their Feb. 14 meeting. Huisken is an optometrist at Drs. Akre and Clark in New Ulm. Her skills in recognizing conditions and diseases of the eye made her a very easy choice for this award. Kirk is the New Ulm Lions chairman for KidsSight USA. KidsSight USA is a free, nation-wide, Lions program that checks children’s eyes for 7 different eye conditions using a noninvasive hand held device. Kirk, with the help of local Lions volunteers, has screened hundreds of children locally. Free children’s eye screenings will be provided at the New Ulm Lions booth at the upcoming New Ulm Home and Health Show, March 22-24. Pictured, L-R, PDG Lion LeRoy Levorson, Award Committee member; Dr. Rebecca Huisken, Lion Brad Kirk and Lion Glen Setterholm, Award Committee member.
