Veteran car donation

Submitted photo Roger Schroeder’s dying wish was that his beloved 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser be given to a veteran in need when Roger, a former US Marine, passed on. Roger completed his permanent change of station on June 20th. Roger’s family asked Brown County Veterans Service Officer Greg Peterson for assistance in finding a veteran who did not have transportation and Peterson sent a state-wide message of the car’s availability. Sue Worlds, Director of Supportive Housing at Mankato’s Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans contacted Peterson within 30 minutes and secured the car for Andrew Larson. Larson is an Army Veteran of the Second Infantry Division. He lives in the supportive housing and had been riding a bicycle to work and medical appointments. Pictured L to R: Jim Schroeder (Roger’s brother), Andrew Larson, Brenda Wiethoff (Schroeder sister), and Greg Peterson.
