NEW ULM — Brown County Commissioners unanimously approved adoption of the 2040 Comprehensive Land Use Plan Update Tuesday. The land use plan update, the first since 1991, was created after the county board approved hiring Bolton & Menk, Inc. to complete the update project that began in May 2025. Public review and input included 438 written comments and 185 verbal comments. An online map-based survey received 212 public responses. County performance measures results

NEW ULM — Brown County Commissioners unanimously accepted participation and results in the 2026 Performance Measures Program Tuesday. Brown County Auditor Treasurer Kelly Hotovec said counties participating in the comprehensive performance measurement program are eligible for a reimbursement of $0.14 per capita in local government aid, not to exceed $25,000; and exemption from levy limits for taxes payable the following calendar year, if levy limits are in effect. “Last December, we received $3,599 for completion of this report,” she said.
