NU grad joins MN Board of Chiropractic Examiners

Dr. Cody Rodewald was recently appointed to the Minnesota Board of Chiropractic Examiners. Rodewald currently works in Lakeville, MN but was born and raised in New Ulm.

NEW ULM – Last Friday Cody Rodewald, a 2008 graduate of New Ulm High School, has been appointed by Gov. Tim Walz to the Minnesota Board of Chiropractic Examiners.

The Minnesota Board of Chiropractic Examiners regulates the chiropractic profession, including the review and handling of complaints and continuing education programs.

“This board essentially oversees the professional duties and responsibilities of all chiropractors in Minnesota,” Rodewald said. “The board is there to protect the public and professional chiropractors by enforcing regulations and upholding standards.”

Rodewald said the field of chiropractic medicine is important to him. He first became interested in the field after sustaining a severe sports injury in high school. Early on he was trying to heal through pain medication, but it was after he began seeing a chiropractor he started to see results.

“I feel in love with chiropractic medicine after I realized what it can do,” he said. “The human body is an amazing healing machine. If we give it what is needed, the body can heal itself.”

Rodewald applied for the open board position at the start of the year. He was announced as one of the finalist considered for the appointment, but said it was a month before he got the call from the Governor’s Office announcing he received the appointment.

Rodewald was born and raised in New Ulm. After graduating from NUHS he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Biology at Mankato State. He then attended the Palmer College of Chiropractic Medicine in Davenport, Iowa graduating in 2017.

Rodewald interned under Dr. Steven Hawkins at New Ulm Chiropractic before joining a practice at Align Chiropractic in Lakeville, Mn. The clinic recently changed its name to Aligned Integrated Health.

“My greatest excitement is to help my profession move forward, while keeping the core principals the same,” Rodewald said.

The Board of Chiropractic Examiners will meet for the first time next month. The board usually meets once a month. Rodewald’s term on the board will run through Jan. 3, 2028.
