A trail is proposed for Old Highway 14 reconstruction in Nicollet
As part of the Old Highway 14’s reconstruction project, the Nicollet City Council is proposing a bituminous trail.
The council would like to have the trail go on the north side of Old Highway 14 from Main Street (TH 111) to Birch Street.
Joe Duncan from Bolton and Menk is checking with Nicollet County to see what decisions are still needed by the council before construction can begin. City Clerk Vanessa Drill was requested to set up a special meeting regarding the trail if she is told by Duncan that there is urgency to the county’s request for further information. The council members present (Matt Anthony, Phil Radel and Kevin Ostermann) felt it would be best to have the full council present for any decisions on the trail. (Fred Froehlich and Mary Wels were absent.)
Stickney Hill Dairy
City Councilor Phil Radel, on a special committee regarding Stickney Hill Dairy, expressed concerns about their billing questions. He requested the council to look for legal advice to work on the discrepancies between the creamery and the city. The council approved the request.
Nuisance Complaint
Glenn Thompson has contacted Ostermann regarding a nuisance in his neighborhood. There are weeds growing on a dirt pile near his property. Council requested the city’s Nuisance Committee to check on the complaint.
Pay Request
Pay Request No. 1 – 2023 Infrastructure Improvements – W. W. Blacktopping, Inc. for $287,867.32 was approved. This is for an alley that they are working on and preparing to blacktop.
Catering Permit
A question was raised to the city regarding Rapid Rick’s Bar and Grill serving alcohol outside at the Cruisin’ on Pine and 99 community event. The council concluded that due to Rapid Rick’s having a catering permit for the event, they are allowed to serve food and alcohol outside.
Other Business
The council approved the minutes from the July 10 regular meeting. Also approved were the bills for $449,382.82.
The next regular meeting will be September 11, at 6 p.m.
