New Ulm Area Foundation Announces Spring Grants

NEW ULM — New Ulm Area Foundation, Inc. nnounces the awarding of grants from its Spring 2023 granting cycle. The Foundation received numerous well-written applications, and it was difficult to decide among the many deserving requests. Grants totaling $67,900 were approved by the Board of Directors as follows:

• $50,000 to State Street Theater Co. to support the project to renew and upgrade the theater environment and the experience for patrons. This grant was supported by an unrestricted donation from the Mickelson Media Foundation to NUAF’s fund named in honor of Bill Macklin, former editor of The Journal.

• $7,000 to The Grand Center for Arts & Culture to support summer creativity and multi-cultural camps for local youth.

• $1,000 to Lind House Association to support preservation of artifacts recently donated by John Lind’s descendants.

• $700 to American Legion Post 132 for the Salute to Veterans concert to be held on July 19th.

The following grants were made possible from the Dr. James & Jane Seifert Fund:

• $3,500 to ProKinship for Kids for summer educational field trips for at-risk youth.

• $1,200 to St. Anthony Elementary School to support their preschool program expansion.

The following grants were made possible from a generous donation by Roger & Carol Ryberg:

• $2,500 to Jr. Achievement for Work and Career Pathway Readiness Programming for 5th & 6th grade students.

• $2,000 to Project Spark to support a feasibility study for a regional labor transportation system.

New Ulm Area Foundation is proud of the work being done by these organizations to help improve the quality of life in our community.
