MORGAN — Back for its 34th year, Morgan Community Players will present “Murder’s in the Heir!” at 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday, March 3-4 and 1:30 p.m. Sunday March 5 in the former Morgan High School gym.
Turn the game “Clue” into a play and you have the entertaining play. Almost every character in the mystery has the weapon, opportunity, and motive to commit the unseen murder.
It’s up to the audience to decide who did it. Each of the heirs to the tyrannical billionaire Simon Starkweather (Alex Hulinsky) has the means and motive to do away with him.
Starkweather gathers his family and employees to announce the contents of his will. His lawyer, Lois van Zandt (Doreen Tyler), reveals that he has bequeathed vast fortunes to his befuddled niece Fiona (Kristin Rossow), her playboy son Jordan (Doug Daub), his great-niece Paula (Amanda Mathiowetz), and his granddaughter Simone (Julia Garms), as well as to many of his servants.
Then Lois delivers the bombshell. Within hours, the will becomes invalid.
Of course, the rejected heirs are not pleased, so its not surprising when they roam the old mansion carrying such items as an ax, a gun, a pillow, a knife, and poison.
Predictably, the lights go out, and Simon is discovered murdered. Simone is determined to find her grandfather’s killer, with the help of detective Mike Davis (Doug Kopischke).
The play’s unique ending, utilizing secret ballots gathered at intermission from the audience, determines the killer in the maze of murder.
Other cast members are Lowell Krogstad, Char Carlson, Becca Krogstad, Lydia Sullivan, Ken Johnson, Amanda Johnson, Eileen Rothmeier, Vashti Sperl and Joel Mathiowetz. Directors are Julia Garms and Char Carlson.
Tickets are available at the door prior to each performance. Adults are $7. Children 12 and under are $4. Funds go to Morgan organizations.
