Crash driver’s bail set at $100K
NEW ULM — Bail was set at $100,000 Tuesday for a 43-year-old Pemberton man facing three felony charges of criminal vehicular operation with great bodily stemming from an Oct. 1 crash at 3rd North and Broadway streets.
Miguel Bustillos’ bail with conditions was set at $50,000. A court appearance was set for 8:30 a.m., Oct. 18.
Bustillos was granted a public defender Tuesday.
Additional charges filed against Bustillos on Monday include felony threats of violence, felony criminal vehicular operation-substantial bodily harm-driver causes collision and leaving the scene; misdemeanor failure to provide proof of insurance when operating vehicle, possession of more than 1.4 grams marijuana in a motor vehicle and fleeing a peace officer by means other than motor vehicle.
According to court documents, the two occupants in the other vehicle suffered severe head injuries in the two-vehicle crash reported at 8:15 p.m. on Saturday.
One victim was reported to have multiple pelvic fractures. Both victims are in an intensive care unit.
New Ulm Police reported two individuals found in one of the vehicles in the crash were found unconscious.
Several witnesses who were at the crash scene recounted events to law enforcement.
