A vehicle fire broke out during the finale of Saturday’s during the fifth annual Pumpkin Smash Demolition Derby at the Brown County Fairgrounds. The fire was quickly extinguished without incident. Seven pumpkins and nearly a 100 vehicles were smashed Saturday during the event. Each round of the derby began with a pumpkin placed in the center of the arena. The first vehicle to smash the pumpkin won a $50 cash prize. This year’s Pumpkin Smash featured seven different categories: Youth, Compacts, Mighty Minis, Mid-size, 80’s or Newer, Old Irons and Trucks. The Truck divison had the highest turnout with 30 vehicles smashing it out. A total of 103 vehicles took part in the vehicular carnage.
