WINTHROP — Sibley County Sheriff’s Office is investigating

the homicide of a Winthrop man. At 2:37 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20 Sibley

Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of an unresponsive person with

unknown trauma at a rural farm site about a mile north of Winthrop in

Transit Township. First Responders found an adult male deceased on

the site, who was later identified as Dennis Weitzenkmap, 79, of Winthrop.

An investigation was started by law enforcement to determine

cause of death. Weitzenkamp’s body was transported to the Midwest

Medical Examiners Office for an autopsy. An autopsy confirmed the

death was a homicide. The Sibley County Sheriff and the Minnesota

Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are investigating the incident. The

Sibley County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public to contact them
