A photo taken by Victor Roepke of Courtland showed a funnel-shaped cloud (right side) as severe weather hit the region Wednesday evening near the TH 15 and TH 68 intersection south of New Ulm. The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a tornado warning for Brown and Watonwan County Wednesday night. There were multiple independent reports of a funnel cloud spotted near the Menard’s store just west of New Ulm. THE NWS reported a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Comfrey at 6:29 p.m. Wednesday. An emergency message urged the public to take cover in Sleepy Eye until 7:15 p.m.
