Brown County updates COVID-19 vaccine clinic hours

NEW ULM — Brown County Public Health has been administering COVID-19 vaccinations throughout the county since December of 2020. Community vaccination events were held in Springfield, Sleepy Eye, and New Ulm at community centers, schools, and churches. Equitable vaccine distribution has been one of the primary focuses of Brown County Public Health.

In recent months, Brown County Public Health has offered COVID-19 vaccines in their office for those looking to receive their vaccinations. As the pandemic has evolved, so have the efforts of vaccinators across the county. The public health department will continue to offer two convenient vaccine clinics in their office for members of the community. All three vaccines (Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, and Pfizer) are available for 1st, 2nd, and booster doses. Clinic hours will be on Tuesdays from 3 to 6 p.m. and Thursdays from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Brown County Community Services Building at 1117 Center Street in New Ulm.

The CDC has authorized COVID-19 vaccines for ages 5 and older with the need for a booster dose for those 12 and older. Those with immunocompromising conditions may also be eligible for a 3rd dose and booster. Studies have shown that becoming up-to-date with a COVID-19 booster dose significantly reduces the risk of severe illness, hospitalization, and death. Those who received a primary dose of Johnson & Johnson should get a booster dose two months after the initial dose. Those who received their primary series of Moderna or Pfizer should get a booster dose five months after the completed series.

To schedule a vaccine appointment, contact Brown County Public Health at 507-233-6820 or online at www.co.brown.mn.us/covidvaccine. COVID-19 vaccines are also available at pharmacies and medical providers throughout the county.
