BROWN COUNTY — Brown County precinct caucuses take place tonight (Tuesday, Feb. 1).

The Democratic-Farmer Labor (DFL) party will hold a contactless precinct caucus to protect the health of participants.

Those wishing to participate may visit dfl.org/caucus and fill out the non-attendee form and, if they chose, a resolution form.

The forms will allow caucus-goers to run to be delegates to future endorsing conventions and submit resolutions to the party action agenda.

The Minnesota DFL Party will allow people without the right to vote to participate in precinct caucuses, party officials said last week.

State Democratic Party Chairman Ken Martin said the move means that felons whose voting rights haven’t been fully restored and immigrants who aren’t U.S. citizens can attend the party meetings and become convention delegates.

Brown County participants can submit forms to Lori Sellner at lorisell@gmail.com anytime between now and 9 p.m. Feb. 1.

Forms can also be dropped off at the New Ulm Community Center, 600 N. German between 6:30 and 9 p.m. Feb. 1.

The Brown County Republican Party caucuses begin at 7 p.m. Registration opens at 6:15 p.m. Participants must be eligible to vote in the next election and voted for or are affiliated with the Republican Party in the last general election or intend to vote Republican in the next general election.

The New Ulm caucus will be held at the New Ulm Event Center, 301 20th St. S. for all precincts plus the City of Hanska, and Cottonwood, Lake Hanska, Linden, Milford and Sigel Townships.

The Sleepy Eye caucus will be in the Sleepy Eye Public School cafeteria. The cities of Sleepy Eye, Evan, Cobden plus Albin, Eden, Home, Leavenworth, Prairieville and Stark Townships will caucus there.

Springfield American Legion Post 257, 5 N. O’Connell Ave. hosts a caucus for Springfield, Comfrey plus Bashaw, Burnstown, Mulligan, North Star and Stately Townships.
