Ulm Fire Department (NUFD) responded to a call at Best Western Plus around 1:50 p.m.

Smoke was detected in the hotel. The cause of the smoke was an air conditioning unit with a broken belt.

Second Assistant Fire Chief Missy Visser said no fire resulted from the malfunction, and the hotel sustained no damage from the smoke. Visser said Oktoberfest at the hotel will be able to go on as normal.

NUFD arrived and cleared the scene with half and hour.
