GIBBON — The Gibbon Fairfax Winthrop (GFW) School Board will consider the proposed 2021 payable 2022 preliminary levy certification on Monday, Sept. 20.

Superintendent Jeff Horton recommends approving the maximum amount. The actual certification amount will be determined in December.

The board will also consider a 2021-2023 master agreement with ISD 2365 and the bus drivers’ association.

Full-time bus driver regular routes are $17,300 for 2021-22 and $17,475 for 2022-23. Full-time regular special route pay is $16.50 an hour in 2021-22 and $16.75 an hour in 2022-23.

Other part-time bus driving pay is $14.50/hr. in 2021-22 and $14.75/hr. in 2022-23.

Driver bonuses are the end of the 10th year of service are $150, 15th $200, 20th $250, 25th $300, 30th $350, 40th $400, 45th $450 and 50th year $550.

Part-time drivers will be pro-rated at 50%. All drivers will be credited for years driving for Fairfax Bus Company, Winthrop, and Gibbon.

The board will also consider:

• School and community recognition to cooks Mary Trebelhorn and Jackie Siekman.

• Elementary Principal’ Jennifer Thompson’s report about students having daily music and physical education classes, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) twice a week, and social emotional learning once a week.

Thompson reported new staff toured Gibbon, Fairfax, and Winthrop, met their mentors and did an introductory activity on culture. The entire staff had sessions on adverse childhood experiences (ACES) and conscious discipline. A day of conscious discipline learning is scheduled in January.

Facility Manager Dave Sellner said completed items are OSHA-required Blood-borne Pathogen Exposure Prevention, Winthrop broken sewer line repairs, multiple Gibbon school roof leaks repaired by Laraway Roofing, moving Fairfax outdoor bleachers to the Winthrop football field, and boilers in both buildings passed inspections.

A Board Development Committee Meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. The regular board meeting starts at 6:30 p.m., Sept. 20 in the Gibbon gym.
