REDWOOD FALLS — Legionnaires, Sons of the American Legion and Legion Auxiliary members from throughout the state of Minnesota will be gathering en masse on July 14-17 at the Jackpot Junction Casino & Hotel and host Legion Post 38 in Redwood Falls for the annual state convention.

The convention kicks off Wednesday for early registration beginning at 4 p.m. at the Redwood Falls Legion Post 38 located at 100 industrial Drive. Registration will continue Thursday beginning at 7:30 a.m. at Jackpot Junction Casino.

Convention processionals, gambling seminars, reports and various meetings will get underway at 8 a.m., capped off with a 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. social gathering with live music hosted by the state Legion and Auxiliary.

Friday starts off with District Caucuses, presentation of distinguished guests, committee reports, presentation of Sons of the American Legion and other various announcements. Friday afternoon business gets underway at 1:30 p.m. with the presentation of past department presidents, Girl State and more committee reports wrapping up at 4 p.m.

Saturday business includes a report on Legionville and various Legion Auxiliary and Legion Post functions. The election committee will announce the newly elected Legion and Auxiliary Commander and President.

Post 38 will be serving pulled pork sandwiches Wednesday, build your own taco bar Thursday, and burgers and brats Friday. All of these dinners are open to the public from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. each day. The newly elected Legion Commander and Auxiliary President welcome dinner will take place Saturday at Post 38 after the convention closes.

All veterans, Sons of Legion members and auxiliary members are welcome to visit Post 38 anytime during and after the convention.
