NEW ULM — The New Ulm Area Foundation (NUAF) presented the American Legion Post 132 with a $500 check to support their community celebration for Independence Day.

The celebration will be held at German Park on Thursday, July 3. The celebration is being moved from Riverside Park to German Park.

Post Commander Brian Krosch and First Vice Commander Roger Hoffmann said the event was moved to German Park to take advantage of the renovated amphitheater and it does increase visibility for the event.

As with past years, the celebration will include the New Ulm Battery and performances from multiple bands including the New Ulm Municipal band. A food and beverage stand will also be open to those who attend.

NUAF Executive Director John Illikman said this event touches all four of NUAF’s pillars of focus: the arts, education, economic development, and historic preservation.
