School board to hear about strategic planning

NEW ULM — The District 88 School Board will receive a report from Superintendent Jeff Bertrang on district strategic planning, Thursday.

Last week, the district collected feedback from staff and parents through Zoom sessions. The next steps are for the board and administrators to use the April and May study sessions to review district data, the feedback and then develop the next three-year strategic action plan.

The district is also gathering information on whether spring activities including sports, fine arts, prom and graduations will be held. The district is waiting on information from the Minnesota Department of Education, Minnesota Department of Health and Minnesota State High School League regarding activities and fine arts performance.

The board will also award a bid for roof replacement at the Middle School. Gag Sheet Metal was the low bidder at $192,000 ($18.35 per square feet) for the installation of a new fully adhered 90-mil EPDM roof system with quarter-inch per foot tapered roof insulation.

The board will review an agreement to work with the Mankato Area Adult Basic Education Consortium to provide educational services to adults residing in the New Ulm district for the 2021-2022 school year.
