Narren get busy

Despite cool weather, New Ulm Narren members Pat Woratschka, left, and Matt Wilhelmi hang laundry on Minnesota Street poles in downtown New Ulm Sunday afternoon. The festive rags are part of the annual Fasching celebration in New Ulm, which is usually celebrated the Saturday before Ash Wednesday. New Ulm Mayor Bob Beussman is breathing easier these days as it appears the Narren will not take him hostage as part of the Fasching holiday this week due to COVID-19 restrictions. Bob’s wife Cheryl said she recently learned that some of the Narren plan to visit the New Ulm City Hall rotunda at 3:45 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 10. She said no singing or dancing is planned this year.
