Authorities release name of shooting victim

WINTHROP — Sibley County authorities identified the 23-year-old Winthrop woman reported to have been shot multiple times early Monday, Nov. 2, as Jessica Holtz of Winthrop.

Sibley County Sheriff’s Office dispatch received a call about an assault involving a firearm on the 300 block of 3rd Street W. at 12:18 a.m. Nov. 2.

The sheriff’s office responded and found Holtz with multiple gunshot wounds at the residence. Winthrop Ambulance transported Holtz to a local hospital. She was later airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis for further treatment.

No arrests have been made and no charges or complaints have been filed in Sibley County Court, according to the Sibley County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities do not believe the shooting was random and that the public is not in danger.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) Special Agents and Crime Scene Team were called to assist with the investigation. New Ulm, Gaylord and Henderson Police also assisted.
