Walk canceled but donations welcome to combat diabetes

NEW ULM — The Sixth Annual New Ulm Diabetes Walk originally planned for Saturday, Sept. 26, has been canceled because of coronavirus restrictions. In its place, people are asked to make a donation and take a walk on their own remembering those with diabetes.

The walk is a Strides Lions for Diabetes Awareness event, a collaboration of the Lions Club of New Ulm and the Lafayette Area Lions Club. It raises funds for the Minnesota Lions Diabetes Foundation. The foundation is working in collaboration with the University of Minnesota to find a cure for diabetes. Donations can be made at www.nudbwalk.com or search New Ulm Diabetes Walk 2020 on the GoFundMe website. Donations can also be made by sending a check made out to the “Minnesota Lions Diabetes Foundation” to Lion Bob Schirlinger, 801 N Payne St., New Ulm, MN 56073. Call 507-354-8940 or 612-501-2719 if you have questions.
