Floral shops report brisk business

NEW ULM — Floral shops reported a busy week due to Mother’s Day and other appreciation events for several vocations.

“We slowed down for a while lately until this week. We’re busy,” said Hy-Vee Foods floral shop manager Carrie Kittler.

“It’s interesting this week. It seems there was stuff going on all week,” Kittler said. “We got calls and online orders for flowers for Mother’s Day and appreciation days for nurses, daycare providers and nurses.”

A To Zinnia Floral & Gifts owner Heather Hacker Hammer said it’s been a busy week.

“We’re busier than the usual Mother’s Day week. It’s our busiest week this time of year in our eight years here,” said Hacker Hammer.

“We’ve been busy. It was better than last year,” said Joyce Lingbeek of Lingbeek’s Floral. “We got many calls from people out of state ordering flowers for people here.”

Springfield Floral reported brisk business.

“We got a lot of people ordering online, picking up flowers at the curb or coming into the store one at a time,” said Deb Fischer.

Uncle Charlies Flowers II in Winthrop reported good business.

“I’m glad I’m in this business that brings smiles to people, many of which have been inside their homes so much,” said business owner Charlie Collins.
