Sleepy Eye firefighters battle grain bin fire

COBDEN — Sleepy Eye firefighters were called to a grain bin fire at the Francis Fromm farm 1 1/2 miles north of Cobden at 10:06 p.m. Monday.

Firefighters contained the fire to one bin that contained 9,000 bushels of corn. Sleepy Eye Fire Chief Ron Zinniel said some of the corn could be salvages and that the bin was not completely destroyed.

Nobody was hurt in the fire that kept firefighters from returning until about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday. Pumper, tanker and rescue trucks were used in the blaze.
