Storm topples trees, power lines

WATONWAN COUNTY — Law enforcement reported trees and power lines blown down in St. James and Madelia late Saturday night and early Sunday morning as strong thunderstorms added hail and heavy rain at times in southern Minnesota.

Winds measured at greater than 55 mph were reported along with a tree down causing a gas leak in Butterfield and trees down in Hanska and Mankato.

Heavy rain caused street flooding in Minneapolis and Roseville early Sunday morning. Nearly two inches of rain was measured at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

Tracy received 3.546 inches of rain.

Rain that fell over 24 hours in the Twin Cities raised the 2019 rainfall total to 29.64 inches, the second-wettest year on record. In 1892, 31.75 inches of rain was measured in the Twin Cities.
