Pedaling their way to victory

NEW ULM — The Kids Pedal Pull competition was held on the south end of the fairgrounds, Friday. 

This year 156 kids ages four through 11 got behind the wheel of a pedal-powered tractor to determine who would drag the weighted cart the furthest.

Every participant received a small prize, but the top three in each age bracket received a trophy awarded to them by Miss New Ulm Princesses Abigail Allen and Madison Portner. 

In the four-year-old division, the top three were Riley Kindt of Fairfax in third, Ethan Rigge of Redwood Falls in second and Zachary Dummer of New Ulm in first.

The winners of the five-year-old pedal pull were Mathew Finstad of New Ulm in third, Dalton Zamzow of Lafayette in second and Ryan Reinhart of New Ulm in first.

The six-year-old competition went to Caleb Reinhart of New Ulm in third, Kaden Leighty of Lafayette of second and Weston Knisley of New Ulm.

The top seven-year-old winners are Ryker Zamzow of Lafayette in third, Easton Mack of New Ulm in second and Martin Mases of Sleepy Eye in first.

The eight-year-olds saw Brody Wieland of New Ulm in third, Korbin Olson of New Ulm in second and Adelyn Armstrong of Lafayette in first.

In the nine-year-old division Madalyn Domeier of New Ulm took third, Paige Nosbush of New Ulm finished second and Joe Stadick of New Ulm took first.

The ten-year-old age bracket was won by Riley Degre of New Ulm in third, Nolan Gag of New Ulm in second and Joey Gilman of New Ulm in first.

Finally, the top pedal in the 11-year-old class was Logan Platz of Lafayette in third, Addysen Wieland of New Ulm in second and Lexi Guentzel of Madison Lake in first.

All those receiving a trophy in third, second of first were qualified to enter the State pedal pull competition on Saturday, Sept. 7, in Redwood Falls.
