Sleepy Eye city manager finalists named

SLEEPY EYE — The names of four finalists for the Sleepy Eye city manager position were released by recruiting consultant Liza Donabuer earlier this week.

Finalists who will be interviewed on Thursday and Friday, Aug. 8 & 9 in Sleepy Eye are Sleepy Eye Public Works Director and interim city manager Russell “Bob” Elston, Andrew Seidl, a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Operations Manager; Pine Island Economic Development Director Devin Swanberg and Pine City Administrator/Clerk Kenneth Cammilleri.

Seidl has worked in various Mayo Clinic roles including business analyst, physician recruiter and staffing specialist. He has an MBA from Augsburg College and a bachelor’s degree in human resource management from Minnesota State University.

Elston was previously a Nebraska Rural Water Association Program Specialist and City of Plainview, Ne. Utility Superintendent.

Swanberg was head track coach and a substitute teacher at Forest Lake High School. He holds a master’s degree in public administrator from Hamline University and a bachelor’s degree in political science.

Cammilleri was an assistant city administrator in Washburn, Wi., a deputy administrator/clerk for the Village of Sand Point, Racine, Wi., He holds a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Carroll University.

A community meet and greet of the finalists is set for 4 to 6 p.m., Aug. 8 at the Sleepy Eye Event Center. Prior to that, they will be interviewed by a panel of city department heads.

A special city council meeting for final interviews before a panel is set for 12:30 to 4 p.m., Aug. 9. Donabauer will share feedback from staff, community members and non-elected city officials at 4:15 p.m. The city council is scheduled to deliberate and select a finalist to off the job to at 4:30 p.m.
