Nominate New Ulm Tourism Person of Year

NEW ULM — The New Ulm Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB), a part of the New Ulm Area Chamber of Commerce, is accepting applications for the 11th Annual Tourism Person of the Year award.

The award honors an individual, couple or organization who has made a significant long-term contribution to the economic health of New Ulm, by attracting travelers to visit and explore New Ulm.

Nomination forms with full criteria are available at the Chamber of Commerce office and must be submitted by April 19. Nominations will be reviewed by the CVB and the winner will be announced at the Tourism Mixer on April 29.

Past winners of this award were Leo Berg, Don Veigel, Ted and Jodi Marti, Opal Dewanz, the Concord Singers, Joel Albrecht, Denny Warta, George Glotzbach, Ann Vogel, and Arnold Koeplin. Contact the Chamber of Commerce at 233-4300 or chamber@newulm.com for questions or to get a nomination form.

George Glotzbach presents about early years

The public is invited to the first Lunch and a Bite of History of 2019 with Lunch and a Bite of History with Humor on Thursday, April 4, at noon. George Glotzbach will present “Growing Up German-American Catholic in New Ulm” in the Brown County Historical Society Annex.

Glotzbach will share experiences of his early years, including attending school, socializing, and developing an appreciation of the unwritten rules. Those attending this presentation are sure to appreciate George’s sense of humar and story-telling talent.

This program is free to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch; complimentary coffee and water will be available.
