MVL Speech Team at Fairmont

Submitted photo The Minnesota Valley Lutheran High School speech team competed on Saturday at the Cardinal Speech Tournament in Fairmont and took home 1st place overall in the large school division. Ruth Dobberpuhl and Lydia Meyer placed 3rd and Tia Parker and Ruth Ulicky placed 4th in the Duo category, while Nicole Schumann placed 7th in Prose. In Discussion, Stephanie Dose placed 2nd overall, and Mizha Overn received an Honorable Mention in Dramatic Interpretation. In Original Oratory, Caleb Tomhave and Lili Mohror tied for 5th place. Ari Selvey placed 3rd and Kincaid Diersen won 2nd place in the Humorous Interpretation category, while Michael Bovee won 5th place in Informative Speaking. In Storytelling, Peter Smith won 4th place, and in Poetry, Maggie Spike won an Honorable Mention, Rachel Ruschmeyer placed 2nd, and Elizabeth Kassuelke won 1st place. In Extemporaneous Reading, Lauren Schauer took 3rd, Emma Niebuhr placed 2nd, and Maida Jaspersen won 1st place.The team competes again next Saturday at the Sibley East tournament.
